Responsibilities
Tom commenced his real estate career in 1982 when he joined Metropolitan Service Corporation, a subsidiary of Metropolitan Financial Corporation, an NYSE listed company subsequently acquired by US Bank. His experience encompasses all aspects of commercial and investment real estate, including development and syndication.
At Gaughan Companies, Tom specializes in the acquisition, leasing and disposition of investment real estate including apartments, office, retail, industrial and medical properties held for investment purposes.

Tom is a successful business development professional with over 25 years experience in the corporate and entrepreneurial environments. His education and experience has resulted in the development of strong leadership, management, analytical, negotiation and sales skills.
In addition, he has proven himself an effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with professional service providers and across all managerial levels within varying types of private and public organizations. In addition to undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Music, Tom holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Graduate School of Business, North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota. In 1998, he was awarded the CFP(R) designation from the Certified FInancial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., Washington, DC. He also holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, Chicago, IL.
History of Success
Prior to joining Gaughan Companies, Tom was a partner in Capital Growth Real Estate, LLC, where he focused on identifying investment opportunities and strategies to create and enhance value and wealth by successfully helping guide a team that brought major real estate projects from concept to completion. At Minneapolis-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Griffin Companies, he lead internal teams assembled to provide various real estate services to corporate clients desirous of outsourcing such requirements as acquisitions, dispositions, site selection, and lease vs. own financial analysis.
